It’s that time of the year once again when we get to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ! But in all our busyness, preparations and celebrations, let’s not miss what Christmas is really about. It’s not about celebrating. It isn’t about the decorations, the food, the fun, or anything like that. Here is what it’s really about: “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11 (NIV)
The birth of Christ was meant to cause great (mega, in the Greek) joy to all people. That includes you. Because of Christmas we have every reason to greatly rejoice. We can rejoice because we have a Saviour who loves unconditionally. We can rejoice because we have a Messiah who delivers us continuously. And we can rejoice because we have a Lord to whom we can gladly surrender. So rejoice! It’s Christmas! Jesus came for you!
The Pastors, staff, and interns at Crossroads Fellowship wish you and all your loved ones a very blessed Christmas. May the joy that was brought by that first Christmas be yours now and always. I hope to see you Tuesday night, 22 December, for the much awaited Christmas concert. Starting time is 6pm. See you then!
Point to Ponder:
“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6, NIV)
